End of Week 3: Survival

I was standing at the front door, watching with wonder as a team of cleaning professionals came through the door. Equipped with dusters, mops, vacuums, and smiles, they began to attack the layers of dust and disorganization that my house has become. I looked at Bob the Builder, who simply smiled and said “it’s just part of the service, ma’am. Just part of the service.” Suddenly, a loud harp-like noise started to build in the living room. I looked around – what could it be?

And then I woke up.

Have you ever had a dream that you really, REALLY wanted to climb back into? I can tell I’m starting to get a little desperate with a dream like that. I feel a little guilty for having frustration, anxiety, and claustrophobic feelings during the renovation when I’m getting the kitchen I’ve been dreaming about for 8 years. Going to work is actually a relief because there is a sense of space there – and the house feels pretty crowded with your appliances in the living room. But – there is hope. Our countertops will be cut on Monday morning, and hopefully installation will happen this week as well. Then we’re within striking distance. And maybe, just maybe, I can talk Jeff into a cleaning crew.

Ok, still dreaming. In the meantime, enjoy a few pictures of life with kids in a construction site.
